NYTimes article on tea bags (of interest to those who like tea as much as I do)
On a related-but-barely note, ever notice how the del.icio.us “tag” button in Firefox looks like a tea bag?

I really don’t understand the teabag craze. Is it so hard to get a teapot that has a little mesh to hold the tea leaves in? And they are so expensive – I buy my Mariage Freres tea in 100g sachets and I am sure that even the best grades of their tea cost me just pennies a cup. Certainly I can’t see spending $1 for a disposable bag which I would have to fill with tea first! It’s so nice to be able to enjoy something really top of the range every day without breaking the bank…

I agree with you that things that become hip often get into crazy priceranges way too quickly. With the right pot and in the right circumstances one can avoid them easily altogether and save a bundle.
